Complete Movement Overhaul done properly
An overhaul is the deepest service a mechanical clock receives, and it is the only one that genuinely resets the clock's service life. Spray cleaning a movement in place does not remove the abrasive paste of old oil and brass dust that sits inside the pivot holes. We take the movement completely apart, every time.
What this service covers
- Full teardown and inspection of every wheel, pinion and arbor
- Ultrasonic cleaning in horological solution, then rinse and dry
- Worn pivot holes rebushed; pivots burnished or re-turned
- Mainsprings inspected, cleaned and lubricated or replaced
- Reassembly, oiling with clock-grade synthetic oil, and adjustment
- Two to four weeks of test running before the clock goes home

How often does a clock need an overhaul?
Most mechanical clocks want a full overhaul every eight to twelve years, with lighter service in between.
Why does the clock stay in your shop so long?
Because it is tested. A movement can look perfect on day one and reveal a marginal pivot in week three. We would rather find that here than in your living room.
Do you guarantee the work?
Yes. Overhauled movements carry a written warranty covering the workmanship and parts we supplied.
